21 Mar Three Questions with Senior Account Executive Emily Busse
Name: Emily Busse
Job Title: Senior Account Executive
Office: San Francisco
Years at LaunchSquad: 2.5
What’s one thing about your job that people outside LaunchSquad might not expect?
That it’s really not about press releases! There’s so much more creativity involved in what we do than even I realized before joining LaunchSquad (or PR for that matter). Every day is different. In February, I spent one day talking to journalists about container-native infrastructure and the very next day sitting on the field of the 2016 Puppy Bowl creating gifs of puppies. Here’s one of my favorite creations. Consumers want interactive, interesting content to engage with and companies are responding to that. That makes our job really fun.
What’s your favorite part about working in tech in San Francisco?
I love that I have the opportunity to feel plugged in to such a fast-changing ecosystem. Some things last and some things don’t (whatever happened to the Yo app?) but the excitement and fervor around creating things that change people’s lives for the better is constant in SF and Silicon Valley as a whole. I feel really lucky to be a witness to — and participant in — this exciting moment in time.
Less professionally, I also enjoy the fact that we have the chance to be some of the first people in the country to try new products from our clients — whether that’s clothing, beauty products, skateboards, robotics, and more. I don’t think I would have that opportunity if I had stayed in the Midwest. As much as I love where I’m from, trends take longer to get there (believe me, I was way late to the Birkenstock game in high school).
What is one of the biggest accomplishments you’ve had at the Squad?
