Before I was ever a “Woman in Tech,” I was a woman in financial services. I began my career at a large investment firm here in Boston. After participating in a company-wide marketing project, I was totally hooked and went in search of a gig that would fuel my passion for storytelling.
Flash forward to my first PR agency job at a shop focused on B2B technology companies. On my very first day, I was getting up to speed on a medical device company, a green energy solution and an online dating site.
That initial week on the job, I discovered my best sources for breaking technology news and which reporters I trusted most to predict “the next big thing.” Through representing these heavily technology-centric companies, I became much more informed about what was available to consumers and what innovations were on the horizon.
Now, eight years later, I work full-time supporting technology startups. What I love most about this role is that it feels like belonging to an exclusive club, where members are privy to ideas and inventions long before they hit the market.
I have the privilege of promoting these game changing technologies and introducing them to the world for the first time. There is nothing more exciting than watching your client’s new product or service sky rocket.
Additionally, I am constantly inspired by female entrepreneurs in the technology space like Reshma Saujani of Girls Who Code, Sheila Marcelo of Care.com, Robin Chase of Zipcar and Aubrie Pagano of Bow & Drape. These ladies are blazing the trail for the next generation of brilliant women and personally, I can’t wait to see what they build and create.
