CloudShield Technologies

Network Security at Optical Speed

CloudShield Technologies (Sunnyvale, CA invented the first network device capable of running applications at the speed of light." CloudShield Founders Peder Jungck and Dave Clauson turned to LaunchSquad in 2001 to help introduce CloudShield's revolutionary technology to the world.

Making Sense of Complex Technology

LaunchSquad worked with CloudShield to fine-tune its positioning, and orchestrated a full-throttle corporate and technology launch.

Without the benefit of customers or significant validation in the marketplace, the program focused on the big picture technology breakthrough and its potentially revolutionary impact on network-based applications.

Overcoming the Optical Networking Hype

Campaign Highlights include:

  • Arranged more than 25 meetings with a broad range of media and analyst targets, including Business 2.0, Red Herring, eWeek, Network World, IDC, Gartner and Telephony;
  • Placed more than a dozen standalone feature stories, including Business 2.0, EE Times, Telephony, Broadband Week, Network World and CRN;
  • Secured positive references from influential analysts at Forrester, Gartner, Cahner's In-Stat, TeleChoice, RHK and others; and
  • Drove significant momentum in the marketplace, leading to CloudShield's first customers and a Series B round of financing.

Dave Clauson, founder and vice president of marketing

"As a startup in a crowded market, we had one chance to introduce ourselves right. From the strategic thinking to the quality and sheer quantity of media coverage we received, LaunchSquad helped accelerate CloudShield onto the networking landscape.

More than putting us on the map, LaunchSquad helped us create momentum in the market."
