Coursera

About This Project

Coursera is on a mission to give everyone in the world free access to high-quality education, and we have been thrilled to be able to share their story with the world. We joined forces before their official launch in April 2012 and quickly established Coursera as the leader of a new movement in higher education called Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Since then, millions of people from almost every country in the world have enrolled in courses.

MEDIA RELATIONS

We worked with key media players to establish a high volume of quality, in-depth articles. In under a year, Coursera was featured in nearly 2,000 articles and appeared in an estimated 90 percent of top-tier business and technology media in the U.S.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

We worked with Coursera co-founders Daphne Koller and Andrew Ng to place contributed articles in Forbes, CNN and Wired Magazine. In April 2013, both Daphne and Andrew appeared in TIME’s 100 Most Influential People list. We also played a strategic role in Daphne’s TED Talk, which has more than one million views.

USER TESTIMONIALS AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Coursera has made high-quality education available to a growing community of users for the past few years, and we wanted to share stories of how people have benefitted from the courses they’ve taken. We interviewed several users to create “Coursera Learner Stories,” a series that takes a deeper look at how Coursera is changing people’s lives—from Max in Ireland, who learned programming to land a new job, to Ellen in Long Island, who is exploring subjects she never had a chance to study while pursuing her undergraduate degree.

We use compelling data along with these user stories from both learners and professors that speak to the company’s mission. These testimonials rally media attention and drive user sign-ups, which have grown from a few thousand in April 2012 to millions of learners around the world.
