BizWorld Grand Prix
Last week, LaunchSquad was one of the sponsors of the annual BizWorld Grand Prix event, a go-kart race and cocktail party benefiting BizWorld, a non-profit whose mission is to teach children across the cultural and economic spectrum the basics of business, entrepreneurship, and money management and promote teamwork and leadership in the classroom. The foundation, started by Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper, has come a long way and is now active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries.
It’s been great to see the outstanding progress being made with BizWorld over the years; every teacher and child that’s become involved sings its praises for being a fun and effective learning tool. Many teachers say BizWorld is the single most effective program they do during the school year. If you are involved in the educational system at all, I encourage you to check this program out.
The Grand Prix event was a lot of fun and the LaunchSquad crew had great success at the raffle. I was fortunate (and very excited) to be one of the drivers for The UpStarts racing team; I used to tell my grandfather when I was young that I wanted to be a race car driver and this is probably as close as I’m going to get. Alas, we came in sixth place, but I’m going to practice and maybe next year the results will be better!
